Ruth
and I started the day with a tour into the Banff National Park. At first there was heavy mist but this had
cleared by the time we reached Lake Louise.
We saw a young bear on our way there.
Lake
Louise, a turquoise, glacier-fed lake, and the surrounding mountains were very
beautiful. We had time to wander round
and take pictures.
Our
next stop was Moraine Lake where we strolled along the shoreline. Moraine Lake is another glacially fed
lake. It is situated in the Valley of
the Ten Peaks, at an elevation of approximately 6,183 feet.
One
option was to walk up a rock pile to get a better view but Ruth and I both
passed.
On the way back to
Banff we stopped at Morant’s Curve to watch the Bow River snake in front of the
rising peaks of Mt. Temple, Fairview Mountain and more.
Our
final stop was Castle Mountain and Storm Mountain.
On
our return Ruth and I tried the hot pool which was part of our hotel. To be honest I found the water too hot for
me.
Ruth
had always wanted to visit the Banff Springs Hotel so we went there for
dinner. I tried bison for the first time
which was delicious.
The scenery is amazing !
